OFFLINE
As with any recipe, you need that first ingredient.

Finding a Field Spaniel that met my criteria was a challenge, but I think I have come darn close.   It's been quite a few years since I have shown a dog, my self confidence level is almost non existent, I find myself almost shaking at the ringside, looking for a handler at the last minute because I can't possibly walk through those ring ropes.

Thank goodness for the support of friends.   I have been lectured, pumped and chastised...all with the purpose of getting me in the ring again.   The breed of my choosing is a funny one...they are far more dependent on their people then GWP's ever were.   I can get him to walk into a stack and show his heart out for me, even though I would be really appreciative if he would do that for someone else!

So, I am once again purchasing clothing for shows, having pockets installed, running up and down hallways at the local mall trying out shoes......and trying to screw up my courage to special another dog.

Here we go ladies and gentlemen, get out your tickets, this will surely be an E ticket ride.

(The picture here, is Ducky, at 5 months, with his friend, Spiney Norman)

Description:
My first German Wirehaired Pointer was purchased in 1974, from Dualborn Kennels, since that time, I have found dog shows to be my second "home". In 1998 I walked away from dogs, due to family and their needs of my time. I had no plans to return.

You can't turn your back on what drives you, the desire to have dogs again underfoot won out and we eventually we found ourselves with three Wirehairs in an apartment, in downtown Seattle! Not ideal, by any means. Thank goodness for a fantastic dog park that covered many acres, including rivers and woods.

When my energy was no longer needed for family, it was only natural to once more start to focus on the dogs. A bit older, less inclined to have the size of a wirehair to deal with, I began the search for another breed.

Field Spaniels captured my attention. Not only were they smaller and less aggressive, they would satisfy my love of grooming, with less blisters then hand plucking! Talk about starting from scratch...I had given away everything, down to my last crate.

Then came the monumental task of finding a FS that I could live with. I had this image...level topline, tons of bone, high tail, long neck and an expression that would melt the hardest criminal. All encompassed in a fiery attitude for the ring.

It took a couple of years, but patience won out. We will see where the road leads us, I hope to see old friends along the way and catch up on what I have missed. Win or loose, I am home.
